Unit 5C

Unit 5C works towards a design approach defined by a single imperative: to build using what is already there, and after that – what is closest at hand. Rejecting abstract form-finding in favour of ad-hoc material opportunism, we seek architectural languages which are undeniably of their place, but specifically of their time in the context of the various material flows constituting the urban waste stream. We are interested in questions about what we should build, whether we should build – and particularly when we might justifiably build based on resource opportunities.
